Meet Our Team
Doris Pearlman
PRESIDENT AND FOUNDER
You might say that design is in Doris Pearlman’s DNA. Growing up as the child of a textile designer in New York, she remembers foreign fashion magazines as bedtime tales, and all things design as routine topics around the dinner table. Seemingly a pre-destined designer, Doris actually graduated with a degree in Education. After teaching fifth grade for a split second, she made a bee-line back to the world of design.
Opening her own residential design firm in Denver was a start, but the second she stepped into a model home, she knew designing individual residences was not her passion…Creating homes from the ground up was much more exciting. She remembers the designer of the first model home she visited: Bev Trupp of Color Design Art. Based in L.A., Bev’s ability to design and build a brand captured Doris’ attention. Today, under Doris’ leadership, Possibilities for Design is one of the most-awarded interior design firms for developers and home builders in the country.
“To this day, I love every single part of what we do. My happiest design moment is walking into a finished model or commercial space and being enamored with the lifestyle and design that the Possibilities team has created.”

Our Process
Our curiosity is insatiable, guiding us through our extensive research and the investigation of every aspect of the designs we create. What is the relationship between interior and exterior? What is the community promise we need to deliver on? What architectural trends do we need to address? And, perhaps most important, how can what we design, enable the dreams of future homeowners?
Market Research and Analysis
Inspiring interior design starts with great insights. We dedicate a large portion of time to understanding the markets we are serving and the lifestyles that are trending. We deep dive into the demographics and psychographics of both the builder and their potential buyers to align the requirements of form, function and design trends. From intense research, we are able approach each project in a bespoke manner, ensuring that our concepts and design aesthetics resonate with homeowners and move the needle for our partners.
Architectural Plan Evaluation
We will always honor the intent of the architects we partner with. It is with great respect that we collaborate while assessing the structural plans for any home or dwelling that we are a part of. When we work with architects, we aim to fully understand the design for how space will be utilized. This allows us to design according to sight lines, and transitions from one room to the next. In assessing a homes architecture, our goal is to envision design concepts that create meaning for all who experience it.
Space Planning
The spatial orientation of a room is everything. From the feeling you get upon entering, to the overall experience while in it, the relationship between furnishings, architecture, colors, and lighting are all critical. For us to create a tailored approach to each project, we put intensive observation into how one element of design plays against another. And another. And the next. To create continuity and a complete concept, the planning of space is essential to interior merchandising success.
Schematic Design/Design Development
As plans take shape, we partner with builders to gain an understanding of every aspect of the home being crafted. We work closely with all parties involved to develop interior designs that work functionally with each home and lifestyle and pay attention to how specific materials can be utilized to heighten and dramatize the home.
Material Specification
A big part of our process is designating the best materials to use to convey a sense of place for homeowners. To create a unique experience, we do the research to know exactly which material, and how much of it, we will need to evoke a specific feeling when someone enters a room. Additionally, we put a great deal of consideration into how certain materials will align with others. Our ability to strike the perfect balance between woods, metals, fabrics, stone, and glass is what sets our interior designs apart from others.
Furnishing Procurement and Installation
We thoughtfully plan every aspect of our design, including the furnishings that go into a space. How we complement design elements with furnishings to create a whole concept is as important as the individual design pieces themselves. Our process would not be complete without being dedicated to our ability to procure and install even the most difficult to find furnishings.
Design Seminars
We never rest on our laurels. As a firm, we are continually learning and developing our craft. We regularly attend design seminars and conferences to hone our skills in every area of our business. Networking with other design firms, architects and builders is how we have stayed at the forefront our industry for almost 40 years.
